Water Aid: “You Can't Have A Rainbow Without Water” - 60s

Rainbows seem to be everywhere as of late. As corporations hastily re-brand their Pride stock as 'thank you NHS' stock (having realised that no parades mean no pink pound coming their way), this commercial from Water Aid offers a timely reminder of their true origins.

It's an important reminder, too, that being able to complain about constantly washing one's hands is a privilege in and of itself. Those in situations with insecure water supplies cannot maintain the hygiene necessary to stay alive during a pandemic, and ensuring that they can protect themselves should be a global top priority.

The ad itself is an impressive piece of work, punchy and engaging despite initially engaging in the usual 'quarantine montage' look we've all become familiar with. Music and visuals work together compellingly here, encouraging viewers to take the advertised charity's message seriously.
