Smart Energy GB: “Albert Einstein” - 40s

Gone are the days when a celebrity's death meant their likeness could no longer be used to entice consumers. From Audrey Hepburn eating Galaxy chocolate to John Lennon's posthumous plug for laptops, adland has amassed an impressive collection of long-dead spokespeople—or 'delebs', as they're ignominiously known.

Albert Einstein joins the canon in this well-made commercial for Smart Energy GB, which suggests one doesn't need to be a genius to see the benefits of digital energy meters. The special effects are seamlessly executed, navigating the uncanny valley as the famous scientist lounges in a bubble bath. Watching spirits, beware—your advertising debut may come before you know it. Or have a say in it.
