Pride in Place

by Syd Briscoe

Pride in London: “You! Me! Us! We!” - 1 min 50s

With Pride events the world over cancelled or postponed due to Covid-19, this Pride in London film offers a touching reminder that the LGBT community is still there for each other. From online support groups to drag shows via Instagram, the movement haven't let lockdown and isolation dull their shine.

That's not to say there aren't ongoing hardships, however, and the film admirably doesn't shy away from these harsh realities. Trans people struggle to access healthcare, while those in unaccepting environments fear the persecution that comes at the end of lockdown.

The overall message, though, is one of hope. Separate but together, this battle-hardened community will emerge from the latest crisis stronger. it's an inspiring attitude - one which will hearten many mourning the loss of Pride 2020.
