Spike in interest.

Mont Blanc: “What Moves You, Makes You” - 60s

This biographical Montblanc ad provides a zippy recap of the life and career of director Spike Lee, incorporating archive footage and shots of the man at work. Aptly enough, Zeynep Orbay and Macie Soler-Sala’s script is narrated like a table read.

This may be distracting for some, but the main draw is footage of New York City before, during, and after the 1977 blackout. Fans of Lee’s true-crime thriller 'Summer of Sam' will appreciate the nod to this influential flashpoint.

In 2020, Academy Award winner Lee writes with one of the German brand’s signature fountain pens. While we like to imagine the director prefers a trusty Bic, this is still a thoughtful and artistically appealing ode to handwritten work.
