Kopparberg: “High Five” - 60s

Physical contact may be frowned upon right now, but that hasn't stopped Kopparberg from releasing this handsy piece of work. According to the Swedish cider makers, the high five was first performed on a baseball field in 1977. Over forty years later, it stands tall next to the handshake and the fist bump.

Director Alex Hulsey has fun with the premise, flitting between video game arcades, bodybuilding competitions, music festivals, and even dial-up internet to emphasize the gesture's ubiquity. Some may wince at the sight of a high five after months of social distancing, but much of the target audience will already be starting their wind-up.
