Great Ormond Street Hospital: “Christmas Appeal” - 65s

You'd have to have a heart of stone to be unmoved by this charming animated film depicting a magical journey home for a child who has spent too much of his young life at the Great Ormond Street Hospital. Henry embarks on his odyssey thanks to the donations from the public, and this film is a reminder that other children may be able to spend Christmas at home if we accept the invitation to make a financial contribution to the GOSH charity.

Directorial team Tjoff Koong's splendid animation aided and abetted by Sigrid's soundtrack plucks at our heartstrings mercilessly, and will doubtless persuade many to respond positively to the appeal.

The press release lets us know that as part of this campaign the Great Ormond Street Hospital is partnering with Hamleys to create a giant Christmas tree installation in the latter's Regent Street store. Strangely, there's no information on how this will benefit the charity, and while it seems highly probable that Great Ormond Street stands to gain from this arrangement, it instinctively feels more of a win for the toy retailer than the charity... and that doesn't sit well.
