Hidden Love

by Syd Briscoe

Cadbury: “High and Low” - 40s

A grandfather's love is delicately drawn in this subtle outing for Cadbury. The provider of purple Easter eggs depict an elderly gent preparing an egg hunt around his flat - ensuring throughout that there are an equal number of treats for each guest to find.

There's a stillness to the ad which stands out against the hustle and bustle, allowing viewers to tune in and focus on the old man's preparations. His efforts to ensure both grandchildren - with their very different heights - are equally accommodated speak much louder than words.

At a time when many elderly folks are likely to become even more isolated than usual (albeit with good, infection-avoiding intentions), this is a valuable reminder that Easter and other such celebrations aren't just for kids - it's important to remember the 'Easter bunny', too.
