Rubber Bands

by Syd Briscoe

Berwyn: “Rubber Bands” - 3 mins 43s

Love and loss are in the air in this enthralling promo for Berwyn's 'Rubber Bands'. A couple find themselves inexorably drawn together and pushed apart in equal measure, their fraught relationship shaping their environment as circumstances overwhelm their need to be together.

Director Taz Tron Delix has done a good job of capturing romantic intensity here, creating a world where it feels like only the two halves of the couple exist. The pair are even lifted into the air at points - feet leaving the ground as the rollercoaster of their emotions defies logic, temperance, and gravity.

Moments of visual distortion are used to great effect as the partnership degrades, while warm washes of light offer a nod to the closeness lost. It proves an absorbing watch - one which will resonate strongly with viewers who've loved and lost themselves.
