Love in translation.

Allegro: “English for Beginners” - 2 mins 55s

This commercial for online auction site Allegro is a terrific reminder of what we'll do for love. It opens on Robert, a retired Polish gent who decides it's never too late to learn something new... and sets about mastering the English language.

Director Jesper Ericstam does a great job of showing how day by day, Robert grapples with the lingo. He's soon able to introduce himself, swear like a gangster, and turn on the charmů though he may need to swot up on his cutlery. The pet dog, his inquisitive neighbours, and unsuspecting bus passengers all observe as his hard work pays off. But why now? What's his motivation? Well, as it turns out, Robert has a very special reason waiting in the UK.

As Poland's PM Beata Szydło announces her desire for Polish to be taught in UK schools, this ad highlights the benefits of better communication. It also presents Allegro as the ideal destination for those looking for the little things needed to achieve something great.
