Ogilvy UK

Ogilvy London is a large agency, but it's still pretty light on its feet. While it works with global big hitters, it knows how to stay in touch on the domestic front too; looking after quintessentially British brands in a way that their audiences really relate to.

The philosophy behind its enduring success is that a brand needs 'more than competitive advantage, it needs meaning in people’s lives.' By creating that meaning, Ogilvy's brands matter to their audiences.

There are shades of A Bit of Fry and Laurie's The Understanding Barman sketch in this Sainsbury's ad. The omnipotent Stephen Fry tells John that he could've saved money on his groceries via the Smart Shop app—classic silly billy behaviour. More abstract insults follow as customers finish Fry's sentences.
