Did you hear the one about the boy, the mole, the fox, and the horse? Wait, that's not a joke—it's the book that's sold over ten million copies worldwide since 2019. Three years later, author Charlie Mackesy and director Peter Baynton turned it into a short film that won Best Animated Short Film at the Academy Awards and Best Short Animation at the BAFTA Awards.
Baynton's now on the books at Not To Scale, a company that's been on his radar for some time: "I'm so excited to join the team, having been a big fan of their work for many years since early in my animation career. It's a dream come true many years later to count myself on their roster of directors."
That's music to the ears of founder and executive producer Dan O'Rourke, who says: "Peter is an accomplished British filmmaker with a great skill for crafting beautifully realised, heartfelt stories that emotionally connect with global audiences. This is a valuable skill for premium brands the world over, as they seek to present their message, within films that resonate with customers long after the first watch. "We are delighted to be able to bring Peter's innate and well-honed skills to the commercial world and look forward to creating films together that are intimate and impactful in equal measure." Baynton, O'Rourke and the Not to Scale team plan to celebrate with cake... unless Mole's eaten it all again.
