slenderbodies: “Belong” - 3 mins 13s

This sweeping promo for California psych-pop duo slenderbodies takes a trip along the Russian-Chinese border, offering a quietly engrossing look at how two world powers sit side-by-side for over four-thousand kilometres.

Along the way, director Savannah Setten meets falconers, street racers, mushers, and ice water swimmers, as well as those content to simply gaze out of their windows. It's a promo where everything and nothing happens at once.

Patient viewers, however, will appreciate the topography and understated humanity captured by Setten and DP Christian Huck. Coupled with vocalist Aram Vehuni's refrain of "I don't belong", it's a thought-provoking study of life in border country.
