What is love? Not this.

by Andrew MacGregor

White Ribbon: “If Love Hurts” - 2 mins 12s

Domestic abuse charity White Ribbon mark this year's International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women with a heightened depiction of an abusive relationship. When a man kisses and fondles his girlfriend, he leaves behind a raft of bruises and lesions instead - and the pain only gets worse from there.

These blunt but effective visual cues - amplified by a wordless script - underline both the physical and emotional trauma endured by those trapped in a violent union. As the charity acknowledge that many suffer in the name of ‘love', they implore victims to see such toxic relationships for what they really are.
