I, Martin.

by Andrew MacGregor

Vodafone: “Glide” - 90s

Vodafone channel ice skating biopic I, Tonya' for their Christmas ad, as spokesman Martin Freeman experiences an uncharacteristic stroke of good fortune when his girlfriend orders a last-ditch present for the in-laws. And what better way to celebrate than with a triple Axel, eh?

Having previously been stuck on a train with spoilerific commuters, the actor relishes his time on an empty ice rink. Well, kind of we imagine Freeman's skating double enjoyed themselves, too.

Head otherwise transposed onto a professional skater la Margot Robbie, Freeman's role is largely restricted to judiciously chosen close-ups. At least the finale acknowledges his customary role as the, er, fall guy
