Sunflower (ft. Steve Lacy)

by Andrew MacGregor

Vampire Weekend: “Sunflower (ft. Steve Lacy)” - 2 mins 25s

Jonah Hill's sophomore promo is a topsy-turvy jaunt through New York's Upper West Side for Vampire Weekend. Shot almost exclusively in split screen, director Hill's two-and-a-half minute effort uses constantly shifting camera angles and the odd celebrity cameo to promote the band's comeback single, ‘Sunflower'.

Those haunted by motion sickness may find the promo's lop-sided aesthetic a trip too far, but well-chosen locations and the group's Seventies-flavoured track manage to offset any physical complaints. As for the unexpected injection of star power, it's good to know Jerry Seinfeld can't even order a bagel without being subjected to a comedy pitch.
