The invisible woman.

by Andrew MacGregor

VW Touareg: “See the Unseen” - 60s

Volkswagen steal a march on the upcoming reboot of ‘The Invisible Man’ with this measured piece of work. Niclas Larsson’s shadowy commercial flits between a man leaving the office for the night and a woman out for a run with her dog; however the latter two are, ahem, easy to miss.

The see-through duo may not be psychotic threats like, say, Kevin Bacon' in ‘Hollow Man'', but they do pose a risk to unsuspecting motorists on a foggy night. That’s where the marque’s new Night Vision assist system comes to the fore.

The build-up and subsequent near-miss are handled well by Larsson, who brings a convincingly cool, ‘after hours’ mood to the ad. Once the fog has cleared and journeys resume, viewers are left in little doubt that the advertised SUV has an especially nifty trick up its sleeve.
