Half-time team talk.

by Andrew MacGregor

Unity: “Mesut Ozil and Mathieu Flamini” - 78s

Now is a good time to launch an eco-friendly brand. After all, Collins Dictionary has named ‘single-use' as 2018's word of the year (following in the illustrious footsteps of ‘Brexit' and ‘fake news'). The latest environment-savvy outfit to hit the market are skincare pedlars Unity, and this rousing launch ad comes with Premier League approval.

Fronted by erstwhile Arsenal teammates Mesut Özil and Mathieu Flamini, the film claims it's "half-time across the planet", and - as shots of plastic-riddled oceans and melting ice caps suggest - the planet is losing. A little team effort, however, and we can still clinch victory… and, er, smoother skin, if we're lucky.

The product itself is absent throughout, leaving director Ivan Bird to draw on an impressive well of natural imagery and sporting vignettes for effect. It's an intriguing call to arms… though we imagine even the most eco-friendly Tottenham Hotspur fan may take further persuasion.
