A Whole Brew World

by Syd Briscoe

Taylors of Harrogate: “Hindsight” - 60s

Hindsight is truly 20-20 in this amusing ad for Taylors of Harrogate. The posh brew company are expanding their existing range of hot beverages with a technological innovation they can't believe hasn't been tried before: coffee bags which brew in the cup like their tea-filled cousins.

The film accompanying this game-changing caffeine delivery system makes for an amusing romp, as director Randy Krallman explores the different moments throughout history when people got tantalisingly close to coffee nirvana... only to be thwarted by fate.

From a businessman falling from a train window to a hippy dreamer who's simply partying too hard to remember his idea, each vignette is both smartly crafted and memorable. Whether it's enough to overcome concerns about extra packaging and single-use items remains to be seen.
