Swinton: “Home” - 30s

In this commercial for Swinton, the 'nagging doubts' of a man worried about his home insurance is brought to screen as a living, breathing thing. The idea is an advertising stand-by and this could easily have passed by without anyone granting it much attention... but The Love Production Company garnered the talents of two of its rosterees - comedy director Julian Pugsley and SFX wizard Robert Kurtzman - to make a film that goes above and beyond.

While Pugsley draws a neatly understated performance from the man worrying about the safety of his belongings as he watches the removal men shift it from one house to another, it's the little critter - created by Kurtzman - personifying his 'nagging doubts' that steals the show.

The creature - who we're reliably informed goes by 'Kevin' - is a curious mix of the cuddly and the menacing and his presence ensures we hear the message about Swinton's service and the online app which enables punters to make sure they have the right level of coverage.

Scripts like these that could go either way, provide an opportunity for a production company to show their mettle and this is an outcome that should please everyone who was involved.
