A close shave.

Subaru: “Sheep” - 40s

There’s a reason why sheep aren’t known for writing memoirs. Well, several reasons, actually, but let’s stick with the fact that sheep lead pretty samey lives - bar the odd brush with genetic engineering. Such woolly existentialism inspires this 40” Subaru commercial, wherein a sheep’s life flashes before its eyes on a blind corner.

A quick-fire montage of fields, grazing, and more fields (plus the odd shearing) is funny in its own right, but the subsequent jolt from the advertised SUV’s automatic pre-collision braking system is equally effective. Safety features like this dominate the marque’s US advertising, yet this has an unmistakably British feel.
