Acting up.

by Jason Stone

Shots Awards: “Hot Praise Hotline” - 70s

How can you make a virtue of the catastrophic acting of the advertising industry's most prominent creatives? By creating a scenario where their awkwardness helps them provide exactly the right kind of performance.

Director Daniel Warwick has made the absolute most of his actors' questionable technique to generate a perfect facsimile of the 1980s commercial for a questionable phone line.

Nils Leonard takes centre stage of course he does, if there is a stage then the Uncommon co-founder is sure to be at the centre of it with terrific support from the likes of Chaka Sobhani and Laura Jordan Bambach.

All of this effort is designed to draw attention to the Shots Awards, and you could easily gain the impression from the calibre of the personnel taking part in this film that the advertised gala is a potential game changer. Alas, no.
