Intriguing possibilities.

by Andrew MacGregor

Short Films: “Idein” - 3 mins 24s

This beguiling piece of work from Found Studio is a Freudian trip. Inspired by Sigmund Freud's treatise on subconscious thought, the studio's latest venture portrays the mind as a realm of fountains and marble sculptures. Once an idea materialises here at its most basic form, it gathers pace like a river before ultimately crystallising.

Like an abstract brain scan, this three-and-a-half minute short depicts inspiration as gravity-defying movement amidst rigid structures. Compelling CG work and an imposing soundtrack sell the experience, although its monochrome aesthetic and sparse atmosphere may leave some viewers cold.
