Short Films: “Ever Upward” - 2 mins 57s

This affecting film explores how New Yorkers are dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. Unlike many films from this side of the pond which have focused on remaining upbeat and staying positive in quarantine, there's no attempt to shy away from how the current situation is impacting people emotionally.

From the ache to hug loved ones to the fears of medical staff that they may infect their families, the sense of longing for normality is palpable throughout the near-three-minute running time. The film - by Elle Ginter (represented by Familia in the UK) and Stephania Dulowski - strikes a poignant and surprisingly hopeful tone overall, however, as people make plans for a future which currently feels very far away.
