First Come, First Serve

by Syd Briscoe

Short Films: “A Modest Defeat” - 9 mins 09s

Actions speak louder than words in director David Barr's charming debut short film 'A Modest Defeat', which tells a story of a sibling rivalry at boiling point. Here, Tiny (played by Sophia Ally) comes up with an ingenious method to put a stop to her big brother Tommy's (Thomas Harrison) bullying ways.

The lead performances are lovely, as Tommy revels in his dominance of the dinner table and Tiny plays the long game while she constructs her revenge. This surprisingly wholesome story will resonate with siblings the world over - even those who didn't need to bend time and space to get a fair share at tea time.
