Love on the Rocks

by Syd Briscoe

Rockshore: “Miniatures” - 40s

Irish brewers Rockshore introduce their new cider with this amusing outing, which plays on the good old-fashioned tradition of Celtic banter. Although a bloke's, er, forensically personalised gifts for his friends are well-intentioned, their tepid reactions caution against being too sweet.

This characteristic is, naturally, shared by the advertised cider. Lovely performances and a hairy final joke help drive the concept home, as does the protagonist's hangdog acceptance of his rejected craftsmanship. Amiable, understated comedy from director David Kerr
