Premier League: Giving back.

by Jason Stone

Premier League: “Try Try Again” - 60s

Director Vince Squibb coaxes charming performances from both the children and the Premier League footballers they idolise in this film promoting the grass-roots efforts of the Premier League.

It's good to see the over-paid, over-pampered, preening players of the Premier League giving something back and each of their contributions has an air of authenticity. This - we feel - owes much to a loose structure and Squibb's decision to use the less obvious moments captured when the camera was pointed at the footballers.

It's good too that the Premier League is focussed on something other than unearthing new football talent and that they recognise the importance of using their influence to encourage children to have a wide variety of different aspirations.
