Bloody Luxurious

by Syd Briscoe

Period Equity: “Not A Luxury” - 60s

Amber Rose stars in this excellent film for Period Equity - an organisation which lobbies for the removal of a luxury tax on sanitary products in the USA.

Director Melanie Bridge helms this spot-on parody of a deluxe ad, diamond sparkle dominating the screen as Rose caresses herself and provides a sultry voiceover narrating just how expensive her jewellery is. From the colour palette to the soundtrack, it's a note-perfect portrayal of luxury... which gives the reveal all the more impact.

This film does a great job highlighting the ludicrousness of a 'tampon tax', particularly when items such as condoms and razors are exempt. Rose's final look to camera says it all - tell them where to stick it.
