Paddy Power: “Save Our Shirt” - 90s

Newly minted sponsors of Huddersfield Town Paddy Power recently irked anti-gambling campaigners by unveiling a home kit with the brand's name emblazoned on it. As we've seen numerous times before, however, the bookmakers usually have an ace up their sleeve.

So it proves in this 90" commercial, as the Irish outfit promise to turn shirt sponsorship on its head... by not appearing on the Championship club's home or away strips at all.

Despite this U-turn being performed in the brand's typically cheeky vernacular, it does raise questions about betting's relationship with football post-'whistle-to-whistle' ban. Will rival bookmakers be content to take a back seat? Place your bets.
