Food fight.

by Andrew MacGregor

Oxfam: “Yemen” - 45s

Yemen's ongoing civil war has driven millions to the brink of starvation, and this stark Oxfam film explains how food can be turned into a weapon with devastating consequences. Keen to underline the human cost of this conflict, the charity present a list of groceries in explosive fashion.

Sure enough, a medley of fruit, vegetables, and eggs detonate before our very eyes. As flesh and yolk gush forth, supers inform us that civilians are being starved through no fault of their own - and that the price they ultimately pay should give viewers pause next time their shopping bill is rung up.
