Walking in the Dark

by Syd Briscoe

Metronomy: “Walking in the Dark” - 3 mins 07s

UK dance-rock outfit Metronomy get psychedelic in their promo for latest single 'Walking in the Dark'. The stripped-back tune is set in contrast to a busy video, which features 3D visuals, bright colours, and, er, a moving kiddie ride.

There's a retro-futuristic vibe to the piece, which sees traditional metal drums and vintage gold dragons blend with iPhone screens and Bluetooth headsets. There's also an aquatic theme running throughout, with yellow parkas and pink coral suggesting it's a trippy day at the beach.

Director Joe Mount does an impressive job of corralling the visual chaos, producing a treat for both the eyes and ears. Given that fans have been waiting for a new album from Metronomy since 2016, this colourful promo makes it clear that the band are well and truly back in action.
