Skate and bake.

by Andrew MacGregor

Marshall: “Guided By Music: Echo Park” - 60s

California-born skateboarder Boo Johnson takes viewers on a tour of Echo Park, Los Angeles in this languid piece of work for Marshall speakers. The goofy-footed skater (no offence intended) is given free rein by director Kevin Castanheira, who puts his own skating background to good use as Johnson performs numerous tricks for the camera.

As well as ollies, heelflips, and the odd manual, Johnson offers some insights into his musical tastes… and plugs his local record shop into the bargain. His somewhat baked delivery may not be everyone's tempo, but there is a seductive quality to the way he describes his favourite city, and how finding the right soundtrack only enhances the experience.
