Lynx: I've got something in my eye...

by Andrew MacGregor

Lynx: “Boys Don't Cry” - 2 mins 24s

It was only a matter of time before Lynx's 'Men in Progress' series tackled crying. As you'd expect, the interviewees provide both affecting and quirky insights into their more emotional moments. Bobby Petta's powerful contribution, however, takes us by surprise.

Former Celtic winger Petta breaks down when asked if he's ever seen his father cry. It's a raw sequence, yet it encapsulates the film's candid tone. As Petta observes: "That's what we're here for, right?"

Crucially, this campaign knows when to lighten the mood, too. The flat cap-wearing gent provides unexpected comic relief at the end as he mentions waterworks of a different kind - neatly underlining this campaign's open-minded message. A moving conclusion to a consistently impressive series.
