Loewe: “An Otter's Tale” - 60s

There are fashion faux pas, and there's Spanish designer Loewe's decision to unveil an outfit that, for some, resembles a concentration camp uniform. We can only imagine the number of Christmas card lists the brand have been struck from now.

It's a shame, because their 60" holiday ad is a stop-motion treat, and demonstrates a lightness of touch that's often missing from this sector. Of course, it helps to have an intrepid otter as your protagonist.

Said critter is charmingly realised by director Nina Gantz, as are cameos by a toasted dodo and a half-man, half-frog hybrid. While there's an unmistakable hint of pretension throughout, this is still a worthwhile trip into the woods.
