Woman Like Me (ft. Nicki Minaj)

by Alice May

Little Mix: “Woman Like Me (ft. Nicki Minaj)” - 3 mins 49s

Little Mix become Little Minxes in Marc Klasfeld's blingtastic promo for 'Woman Like Me'.

As you'd expect from a director who has shot videos for more stadium-filler acts than you can shake a stick at, he's done a sterling job of making them seem quite raunchy. Which, considering their audience tends towards pre-teen girls, is no mean feat.

Playing trashy rich girls, they swan around a stately home playing at housework and dressing up for dinner. Nicki Minaj adds some kudos by making an appearance as a living portrait, singing from the confines of a grand picture frame and showing off her unfeasibly large breasts.

The production design is great, and cinematographer Joseph Labisi gives proceedings an extra touch of class by capturing the light streaming in through the windows in great, dust mote-filled shafts.

By dint of the fact it's Little Mix, this is never going to be breathtakingly original - but then, that wouldn't be appropriate anyway. A good director will take into account who a promo or TVC is for, and fashion it accordingly. Which is what Klasfeld has done very well indeed.
