Once

by Andrew MacGregor

Liam Gallagher: “Once” - 5 mins 33s

Liam Gallagher may be a Manchester City fan, but even he must doff his flat cap to Eric Cantona. The ex-Man Utd forward fully embraces his ‘King Eric’ persona in this surprisingly touching music video, wherein Cantona swans around his country manor in a dressing gown and quaffs red wine like there’s no tomorrow. In fact, what does the future hold?

There is a tangible air of finality to director Charlie Lightening's seamless promo, as Cantona - stoic in his regal loungewear - mouths lyrics such as “It was easier to have fun back when we had nothin’” and “When the dawn came up you felt so inspired to do it again/But it turns out you only get to do it once”. Who knows - it may even help bridge a divided footballing city*.

*It won't.
