Feel the sneer and do it anyway

by Alice May

Holden: “Concert” - 45s

This very amusing Australian spot challenges viewers to show they aren't afraid of the opinions of people around them - to show that they are, in fact, healthily immune to ridicule.

A woman is so caught up in the moment at a concert that she launches herself of a balcony and onto the crowd - much to the mortification of her daughters. Afterwards, she drives them home in a Holden Equinox... a car brand which apparently is to transport as jeggings are to fashion.

As well as a succinctly attitude-packed strapline: "Nothing to prove? Prove it", this commercial has such a shamelessly joyful performance from the central character that the message comes across in the most positive way possible and may well persuade those in the market for a new car to consider Holden as a serious contender.
