Spengler, Stantz, and… Greg from the Halifax?

by Andrew MacGregor

Halifax: “Ghostbusters” - 60s

Pop culture miners Halifax snag two-thirds of the original ‘Ghostbusters' line-up in the bank's latest nostalgia hit. Having previously answered the ‘Wizard of Oz' gang's mortgage queries, Greg from the Halifax - that's his name, don't wear it out - now accompanies Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) and Raymond Stantz (Dan Ackroyd) on their Sedgewick Hotel assignment.

Of course, fans will notice there is a sizeable Bill Murray-shaped elephant in the room. One can only imagine the legal hoops the brand had to leap through to make this 60" reboot possible, but we suspect Peter Venkman was one too far.

Still, Greg (played by David Rees Talbot) proves an amiable substitute, as he proves Halifax staff aren't afraid of taking a dollop of ectoplasm to the face… which is the least one can expect from high street banks these days.
