Satan, Luella, and I

by Andrew MacGregor

HMLTD: “Satan, Luella, and I” - 6 mins 14s

South London's HMLTD have a taste for the theatrical. Luckily, the band's flamboyant style gives LEZ Creative's Ilona McIlwain carte blanche. Set amongst abandoned buildings and occult ceremonies, this baroque promo for ‘Satan, Luella, and I' doubles-down on macabre flair.

Like a drained version of Jared Leto's Joker, frontman Henry Spychalski delivers lyrics such as "Lamb's blood ran down your door" with relish. Armed with candlelight and Spychalski's physicality, McIlwain enhances the track's melodramatic tone. A darkly glam calling card for everyone involved.
