Friendly Fires: “Silhouette” - 3 mins 55s

This retro promo for Friendly Fires's latest single 'Silhouette' recreates the kind of Eurovision performance which graced screens throughout the Seventies and Eighties. Complete with vintage grade and pastel costumes, the film sees the band deliver a family-friendly performance that's markedly different from other promos in their canon.

Director Tom Dream evokes the contest's pomp to a tee, complete with heavily-accented voiceover, neon-lit staging, and funky choreography galore. Even if this does nothing for Euro(vision)sceptics, it's still a skilfully handled trip back in time - one which will make some of us yearn for the days of big collars and Cuban heels.
