Putting on a brave face.

Debenhams: “The Party Guest” - 20s

Record annual losses and pending store closures are hardly anyone's idea of a Merry Christmas, but that's the scenario facing high street stalwart Debenhams this festive season. Still, the show must go on, and agency Mother have released four 20" ads in their bid for Christmas custom.

This particular instalment sees a woman arrive at a festive do with present in hand. Nature calls before she can witness the grand opening… but a quick survey of her host's bathroom decor says she is already onto a winner.

Accompanied by a burst of Kiki Dee's 1981 hit, ‘Star', her slow-motion reaction reflects the satisfaction of a gift well bought. After last year's costly spin on Cinderella, this pithy follow-up may have shoppers chasing their own festive dopamine hit.
