The Language of Love

by Syd Briscoe

CitroŽn: “First Dates” - 80s

Citroen riff on their French heritage in this amusing series of idents, which question just how much impact the Ďlanguage of love' can have in the real world. Heightened situations are established in each clip, toying with romantic tropes... before being thoroughly subverted by mundane reality.

It's an entertaining approach, deftly handled by director Camila Zapiola as hyper-romance becomes hyperbole. From a snog during the school run to a passionate embrace down the local car wash, these tongue-in-cheek idents are bound to be warmly received by the lovey-dovey First Dates audience.
