Land of Ant and Dec

by Syd Briscoe

Britain's Got Talent: “Conductors” - 60s

Ant and Dec make their triumphant joint return to screens in this ad for that perennial source of dancing dogs, Britain's Got Talent. The 60" film sees an appropriately colourful cast - including glitter-helmeted construction workers and operatic magicians and contortionist pianists - perform a rendition of 'Land of Hope and Glory'.

While it may not be the most comfortable moment to release anything bedecked with Union Jacks and thrumming with patriotic vibes, the film is executed with a playful touch and has just the right amount of self-awareness coursing through it. Mind you, how much ‘talent' is actually left in these isles after twelve series?
