Snowy Soiree

by Syd Briscoe

Belgian Lottery: “Soiree” - 60s

Parabella resurrect their sun-worshipping snowman for another charming animated ad for the Belgian Lottery. While the last instalment saw the frozen fellow wishing he could catch some rays in Hawaii, this year he's pining after a Christmas soiree.

Champagne, roaring fire, and Christmas decorations - the snowman watches it all sadly from afar, unable to take part in the festivities due to his delicate constitution. Luckily, his woodland friends are just as ready to help out as they were last time, and put together a snowy approximation of the party just for him.

The animation here is meticulously crafted, with whimsical character designs as cute as they are compelling. The soundtrack is an effective choice, avoiding Christmas twinkles for a woodwind-heavy orchestral piece with a theremin twist which gives the whole affair a mature feel. Compelling, polished work sure to entice viewers to try their luck on a Christmas lottery win.
