Rupert Murray

Rupert Murray brings a documentary-maker's eye to his projects and has a real skill for bringing authenticity to work without stripping away the glossy veneer that's often required in the realm of advertising.

His major work outside advertising was the 2005 film ' Unknown White Male' which centred on Doug Bruce, a friend of Murray's based in New York whose life was blighted by retrograde amnesia. The film caused a real stir when it was shown at Sundance and was nominated for a number of prestigious awards.

His advertising work displays a real commitment to the core task, often delivering an outcome which is significantly beyond expectations formed by the script.

"Help the Homeless"
There must have been a certain nervousness at MullenLowe when they were charged with spreading the word about an initiative that has Knorr supporting homeless shelters. Worthy as it is, there must have been a concern that it would look exploitative and maybe even a little crass. Against that background, Rupert Murray's film is pretty marvellous.
