Joe Roberts

Critically acclaimed filmmaker Joe Roberts is known for his documentary-style films, which often incorporate his wry sense of humour.

Having started his career with a literal bang via some 'in-camera pyrotechnics' (he burned a hole in the roof of his house making his first short, but maintains his shoots have been fire free since '93), Roberts has continued to infuse his work with a sense of realism.

Nick Helm sacrifices his lie-in for Arla in a series of films about early birds. The comedian attempts to find out if there's anything to this waking up early business, or if it's simply a ploy to make people who sleep in feel bad about themselves. The first instalment sees him teaming up with fishmonger Rex, who gets up at the crack of dawn to acquire his catch for the day.
