Riff Raff wrangle Ed Morris.

by Andrew MacGregor

Riff Raff Films and their founder Matthew Fone are delighted to add director Ed Morris to their ranks.

Since he made the leap from advertising to film production, Morris has established himself as one of the industry's canniest operators, flitting between TVCs, promos, short films, and photography with considerable ease.

Whether it's separating a couple by unknown means for Ghostpoet and Massive Attack or charting a young man's transformation into a Royal Navy crewman, Morris manages to inject an assured, febrile quality into each script that comes his way.

For example, Morris's 2016 ad for Weight Watchers eschews platitudes and well-trodden devices, opting instead for a brisk take on the idea of ‘positive thinking'. Thanks to some nifty visual gymnastics, the ad stands out in a typically safe sector.

This willingness to experiment and challenge audience expectations is just one of the reasons Riff Raff made their move. With Morris now in place, the likes of Matthew Fone can't wait to deliver the first script to their new man.
