Nexus Studios have announced a new addition to their roster for worldwide representation - director and animator Manshen Lo.
Having graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2015, Lo's work combines minimalist linework with delicate compositions, evoking the artist's East Asian roots and the ligne-claire style.
Often exploring the tension between human beings and architectural space, her film career got off to a flying start when she collaborated with Nicolas Ménard on the Channel 4 commissioned 'Wednesday with Goddard' - which won Best Animated Short at SXSW and was screened all over the world.
Now part of the talent-rich roster at Nexus, the director launches her commercial career with a film for architectural firm Fosters & Partners. Co-directed with frequent collaborator Ménard, the film evokes a dreamlike atmosphere and highlights the harmony which can be achieved between the natural world and manmade structures.
This combination of a refined artistic touch with a strong visual sensibility will see Lo in good stead at her new home with Nexus, whose "unique vision and incredible craft" she cites as particular inspirations.
Chris O'Reilly, Executive Creative Director and co-founder of Nexus, said of the signing: "Manshen has her own sophisticated and witty voice that comes through in both her design and storytelling work with great clarity. We're really happy that she's now joined the director roster."
