New Land for Joanna Nordahl.

by Andrew MacGregor

Swedish-Brazilian filmmaker Joanna Nordahl has joined New Land for commercial and promo representation.

The multi-talented Nordahl is known for her short-form and visual arts work, but one film in particular caught the eye of New Land EP Trine Pillay: “No matter how many times I watch Joanna’s ‘Pink Ribbon’ film, I’m floored. Her ability to hit such an emotional chord is what drove us to sign her to the roster.”

To bring readers up to speed, ‘Pink Ribbon’ is a four-minute commercial for Swedish charity Cancerforden. An exercise in restrained storytelling, the film charts the impact of cancer on a teenage girl and her loved ones.

Right from the get-go, Nordahl has demonstrated an instinct for relaying human stories with what Pillay describes as "a fresh and youthful eye.” This perspective makes Nordahl a potentially invaluable addition to the New Land roster.

According to Pillay, Nordahl is well on her way to repaying the company’s faith in her: “We’re already mid-production on a few projects and I can’t wait to share them.” Stay tuned, as they say, for Nordahl’s New Land debut.
