Jonnie Malachi arrives at Rumble.

Director and comedy writer Jonnie Malachi has joined Rumble for UK representation.

An experienced commercial and promo director, Malachi has now branched into feature films. His debut - a crime romp called ‘Breakdown' - was released last year, and Malachi believes Rumble is the ideal place to further develop his cinematic technique.

Rumble have been busy lately, haven't they? Malachi is the latest in Rumble's 2017 recruitment drive. Following Mark Pellington's recent arrival, Malachi strengthens the Bethnal Green talent pool further.

His commercial nous has already seen him collaborate with industry stalwart Mark Denton on Hotels.com's recent campaign. This song and dance number gives free accommodation the musical treatment.

Malachi must enjoy comedy then? While he continues to explore drama and other genres, comedy remains Malachi's speciality. Rumble's Reza Dolatabadi was drawn to his comic instinct: "He takes the essence of a comedy script and adds the ‘laugh-out-loud' factor to it."

Thus, brands with an irreverent streak are keen to enlist Malachi's skills. Loo fresheners are a tough sell, but his V.I.Poo work delivers arch toilet humour.

What else do Rumble have to say about him? Reza Dolatabadi says: "Signing a new director is always exciting and I'm particularly chuffed to have Jonnie join our Rumble family."

Dolatabadi also thinks Rumble's new man will seize every brief: "It wasn't until we worked on our first pitch when I realised just how much he can bring to the table."
