Carlos Font Clos at top Speade.

Speade add some Spanish zest to their editing roster courtesy of Carlos Font Clos.

Clos's new employers were impressed by his "versatility, commitment, and enthusiasm", making him a shrewd addition to their select band of editors. A successful cutter both in his own country and internationally, Clos aims for more of the same in the UK.

Did Clos always want to be an editor? He always fancied a creative career, but it wasn't until he enrolled at ESCAC (that's the Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya) that Clos found his true calling.

The Barcelona native relished the idea of shaping stories from start to finish... and he's made the editing booth his home ever since.

What kind of things has he worked on in there? Clos has put together an eclectic portfolio comprising TVCs, promos, and fashion films. He's always keen to push himself whatever the project - and this fluid promo for experimental rock band Battles demonstrates a knack for complex rhythms.

That's one busy track. It's safe to say Clos enjoys a challenge. He turned the group's constantly evolving sound to his advantage, incorporating quickfire cuts and fades to dizzying effect.

We're very excited about welcoming Carlos Font Clos... every project he's involved in punches above its weight.


As for his TVC work, Clos cut this Coca-Cola ad charting the soft drink's humble beginnings. The quickfire script gave him the chance to demonstrate his comic instincts as John Pemberton chases ingredients and dodges anachronisms.

Good storytelling there. Speade must think they've found the right man, then? Founder Sam Sneade says: "We're very excited about welcoming Carlos Font Clos... he has covered all the bases from action to comedy, taking in promos and fashion along the way.

"The common thread through all this is his ability to keep the narrative flowing to ensure every project he's involved in punches above its above its weight."
